
The group will depart from Windhoek in the morning and head north via Otjiwarongo to the Kamanjab area. This can also be done whereby a self-drive group drops off their vehicle (Okaukuejo or similar) and the guide meets the group in Etosha or a pre-arranged place.

Head north today to the Kunene River, the Ruacana Falls and then along the river to Kunene River Lodge. On the way, stop at one or two Himba villages.

From the Kunene, drive south to the "frontier" town of Opuwo and then west via Kaoko Otavi to Orupembe, the "place of wide open spaces". This area offers superb scenery, wild wilderness areas as well as traditional Himba villages and a full day is set aside to "explore" this beautiful but remote area of northwest Namibia.

From here the group will head south to the community campsite on the banks of the Hoaruseb River at Purros. If lucky, see some desert elephants as well as springbok, ostrich, oryx and possibly the elusive mountain zebra. A full day is set aside in the harsh but beautiful area to visit the local Himba/Herero village as well as to look for the desert adapted elephants.

The route goes east through the wide open plains of the Geribes, to Sesfontein and then on to Palmwag Lodge.

Head south through mountains and dune areas to the heart of Damaraland. This region is truly wilderness, home to a wide variety of desert animals, especially the elephants who have made the Huab River valley their home. A full day is set aside in this area to visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, Huab River wetlands, dunes etc. This is also a superb area to do some walking!

Today, travel along some rough roads, to the banks of the dry Ugab River bed with an afternoon excursion to the Brandberg Mountain for a hike to see the White Lady bushman painting... or on to the Spitzkoppe granite hills.

Ugab or Spitzkoppe campsite, no meals included
Early morning rise for a short walk and then head back to Windhoek. On route, the group will stop over at the Spitzkoppe granite hills, a beautiful area with bushman paintings as well as the stunning rock formations. Arrive in Windhoek mid-afternoon where the safari will end (breakfast & lunch).
