Desert, Dune & Skeleton Coast

Day 1  Windhoek

From Windhoek, head south through desert shrub savannah to a lodge/guest farm close to the Namib Desert for the first evening.

Accomodation:
Lodges/Self-drive: Namibgrens Guest Farm or similar
Camping: Naukluft Mountains campsite

Meals:
Lodges: dinner
Self-drive: no meals included
Camping: dinner

Day 2  Namib Naukluft Park

Drive down the Spreetshoogte Pass to Solitaire and then via the western side of the Naukluft Mountains. Visit this beautiful area for a nature hike along the Westerberg trail to arrive at the overnight stop in the afternoon.

Camping: Sesriem campsite

Day 3  Sossusvlei / Dune 45 / Sesriem

A whole day is set aside in this beautiful area with an early morning rise to drive to the beautiful Sossusvlei area where most of the morning will be spent on dune climbing, photography and to visit the amazing Dead Pan. A stunning area, especially early morning! Overnight at the entrance to the Sossusvlei dunes area.

Day 4  Kuiseb Canyon / Namib Gravel Plains /Welwitschia Plains / Moonlandscape

Today head back to Solitaire and then west through the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons to enter the Namib Naukluft Park, the Namib gravel plains. Detour to see the amazing Welwitschia mirabillis plants as well as the Moonlandscape before arriving at the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund.

Day 5  Walvis Bay / Flamingo's

The morning is set aside for an excursion to the Walvis Bay lagoon where a wide range of birds such as flamingos, pelicans and waders can be seen. The afternoon is free to spend in Swakopmund.

Optional extra activities: - scenic flights over the Skeleton Coast - Dolphin boat cruise at Walvis Bay - Dune 4X4 quad biking etc All options: Hotel Rapmund or Europahof or similar - breakfast D AY 6 Skeleton Coast / Cape Cross Head north along the Skeleton Coast to the breeding seal colony (80000-100000) at Cape Cross, stop over at the Lichen Fields as well as a saltpan.

Day 6  Skeleton Coast / Cape Cross

Head north along the Skeleton Coast to the breeding seal colony (80000-100000) at Cape Cross, stop over at the Lichen Fields as well as a saltpan.

Camping: Mile 108 or Ugab Wilderness campsite

Lodges: breakfast & dinner

Day 7  Spitzkoppe

Enter the central Namib to visit the beautiful Spitzkoppe Granite outcrops before heading on to Okahandja (wood carvers market) and on to the lodge close to Windhoek.

Day 8  Windhoek

After breakfast travel on to Windhoek and transfer to the airport.
