You fly into Maun where our guide will meet you and escort you to a campsite on the banks of the Thamalakane River. This afternoon your guide will brief you on the procedures for the next ten days and after lunch you will have the afternoon free to explore Maun or relax at the pool. This evening we do supper at a restaurant. (Own cost).
We fly to Chiefs Island in the Okavango Delta where we change to Mekorros ("dug out canoes") to be poled along the channels of the Delta to a remote Island where we will camp wild for two nights. From our campsite we will do game walks on the surrounding islands allowing us the opportunity to observe the smaller creatures and animal tracks, scents and sounds that are overlooked when on a game drive and at the same time keeping a careful lookout for lion, elephant, buffalo any the numerous smaller animal species and birds that proliferate in the Delta. There will also be plenty of time to relax in camp, trying your hand at poling a mekorro or taking a swim.
We spend the third night in the Delta will be spent at an established campsite where we can enjoy a hot shower before retiring to the bush bar and it's observation platform for a cold drink while we watch animals coming down to the water to drink.
We fly back to Maun where we will be met by our 4x4 safari mobile, and will stock up on fresh supplies and cold drinks before we head North for Moremi Game Reserve, situated on the Eastern side of the Okavango Delta.
We will spend four nights in Moremi staying at various campsites as we Safari around the reserve in search of leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, antelope, etc. We explore the reserve extensively and traverse areas of savanna, Mopani forests, Acacia scrubland and the vast reedbeds where fingers of the delta flow deep into the reserve. Each area hosting prolific and diverse animal and birdlife. Suppers are prepared over the campfire as we listen to the animal noises drifting in out of the dark and you can expect to be lulled to sleep by a symphony of screeches and clicks from cicadas and reedfrogs and the occasional roar of a lion or whoop of a hyena.
We do an early morning safari before we head back to Maun after brunch to a campsite on the Thamalakane River and take our last supper together in a local restaurant. (Own cost) After breakfast on day 10 we transfer into town where you can do a final exploratory walkabout and stock up on curios before your flight out.
